ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm John

WHERE I COME FROM
I was born and raised east of Troy, on Little Bear Ridge, and continue to raise my family here. I am thankful everyday that I have the opportunity to work with my family and be a third generation operator of our family farm. Traditions run deep within my family and I continue to live by the values my parents taught me, and I work everyday to instill those values in my children.
John's Life
John grew up on his family farm located on Little Bear Ridge in Troy. He is the youngest of five brothers and sisters. He attended the public schools in Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 1986. After his high school graduation, John attended the University of Idaho and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Mechanization and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agribusiness in the spring of 1991.
John seized the opportunity to return to Little Bear Ridge and continue the traditions of the family farm. Today, he continues to operate the century old farm along with his brother and two nephews.
John believes one of the most important things a person can do is give a helping hand to others. This is evident in the personal time he puts into helping out at community events and non-profit organizations. He is a member of the Troy FFA Alumni Association and has served as a past treasurer and president. He was a volunteer EMT with the Troy Ambulance for 3 years and served as president there as well. John continues his 25th year with the Troy Volunteer Fire Department where he was elected to various leadership positions and helped the department by refurbishing various fire apparatus. In December, John was re-elected to his third term as Chief for the department.
John's public service started when he was elected to the Latah Farm Service Agency County Committee. He served 9 years (three, three year terms) representing agricultural producers in the county by ensuring the Farm Service Agency administered programs fairly and equitably.
John lives in Troy with his wife, Alison, and their two children, Halee and Brett. Alison is an elementary educator in Troy and has been teaching for 21 years. Halee is a senior at Troy High School and plans to attend the University of Idaho in the fall of 2022. Brett is in seventh grade and enjoys football, basketball and board game club at Troy High School.
The Bohmans enjoy spending time together camping, boating, snowmobiling and gardening. They like enjoying summer evenings on the deck listening to music, eating fresh food from the garden and spending time with friends and family.
